Wolf Parade News
| Theater revival (The Record) In his first experience in Montclair's Wellmont Theatre, Andy Feltz couldn't wait to leave. A ponderous epic dragged across the screen. Glancing again and again at a black clock with lighted rim and white hands and numerals high on the south wall, he fidgeted and fussed. He was 5 years old. It's always sunrise for Sunset (The Daily Iowan) Whether it was Roy Orbison and the Traveling Wilburys, Jenny Lewis and the Postal Service, or Josh Homme and Eagles of Death Metal, musicians have always looked for a way to express other sides of their talent beyond their primary gigs. Spencer Krug, guitarist for indie favorite Wolf Parade, fits perfectly into that list with his side project, Sunset Rubdown. Swan Lake (ChartAttack.com) In the never-ending debate about what makes a supergroup, I'll say this: it's one thing when your band's super players are people like Nathan Larson and Emm Gryner; it's something else entirely when they're Destroyer's Dan Bejar, Wolf Parade's Spencer Krug and Frog Eyes' Carey Mercer. The Week[end]: October 3-5, 2008 (Isthmus) Art takes the lead this weekend at Gallery Night and Madison Area Open Art Studios, along with the Mami Wata Regatta at the Chazen and Memorial Union Terrace. Don't forget live music, too, with release parties by Pale Young Gentlemen and The Arge, not to mention a strong slate of shows by Ray LaMontagne, Sunset Rubdown, Eoto, Altered Five, Mathematicians, Ani DiFranco, and The Cardinals ... Carey Mercer Blacks Out On Beach (ChartAttack.com) Frog Eyes and Swan Lake member Carey Mercer will release Skin Of Evil , his second solo album under the Blackout Beach moniker, on Dec. 2 via Soft Abuse. |
