The English indie band based in Brighton and originally from south London, The Maccabees, has finished their gig at SOUTHAMPTON UNIVERSITY today, May 13. But the band has promised to return to the stage so they have announced details of a major UK tour for this autumn.
Nine dates are going on sale at 9am on Friday May 15, as the next leg of their Wall Of Arms tour - which sees the band promoting their new album of the same name. They have released two albums so far, Colour It In, with a follow-up, Wall of Arms, completed and released on 4th May 2009.
The tour begins on September 30 in Bristol and includes a huge headline show at London’s Brixton Academy before culminating on October 10 in Leeds. The shows will follow the band’s extensive summer festival commitments that will see them play sets at The Great Escape, Isle of Wight, Leeds & Reading and the Evolution festival in Newcastle.
The guys who adopted a name with religious connotations (lead singer Orlando Weeks has more recently affirmed, in an interview on Steve Lamacq’s BBC Radio 1 show, that none of the band are religious), will be playing the following dates:
