Accordig to web reports, Lady GaGa, known for her unique stage outfits and raunchy performances, will team up with Pet Shop Boys on stage for their 2009 British Awards performance.
Originally Girls Aloud were going to sex-up the pop veterans’ medley. But, as a tabloid recently reported, they have now been given their own slot so the job falls to the 22-year-old New Yorker Lady GaGa. Another source reported that at first it was thought Las Vegas rockers The Killers would be collaborating with the synth pop duo, but frontman Neil Tenant denied that the two bands would be working together. So now the rumors have been eliminated and Lady GaGa will be the one to perform with Pet Shop Boys.
“It is going to be the raunchiest show the Brits has ever seen.”, the source opened up to The Sun. “The organisers wanted a female singer who would really shock to sing this track about the Keeler sex scandal.” And the Just Dance chart-topper that has already been a number one hit in the United States, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia seems to be the perfect choice for the organizers. “GaGa is the girl. She will be perfect.” They added. “Don’t expect many clothes.”
It has been confirmed that Pet Shop Boys and Lady GaGa will cover the track ‘Nothing Has Been Proved’, a 1989 hit for Dusty Springfield, as produced by the pair. The song is about 1963 political sex scandal the Profumo Affair, which blew up after minister John Profumo had a fling with showgirl Christine Keeler.
The paper also says the theme of the performance is very English, with the stage shaped like Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage and filled with farm animals and other props more likely to be seen in the countryside than at a glamorous London award show. Moreover, the presenters James Corden and Mathew Horne - fronting the ceremony with Kylie Minogue - will jump from a caravan to host the event. Another sexy American, Katy Perry, will be among the stars presenting and giving out awards on February 18 at London’s Earls Court.
Beside recruiting Lady GaGa and Pet Shop Boys, organizers for 2009 BRIT Awards have also appointed Estelle, The Ting Tings, Take That, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Girls Aloud and U2 as musical guests.
With an unique theme and so much stars performing on stage, this promises to be one of the best Brits ever.
