Jordin Sparks, 19, has had a wonderful year as she enjoyed the tremendous success of her ‘No Air’ duet with Chris Brown, and it seems that she decided to thank God for her success by participating at not one, but two, Super Bowl-related charity events.
The American pop and R&B singer has been a very busy young woman. She was recently a bridesmaid in fellow Idol Gina Glocksen’s wedding. She also sang at one of the inaugural parties in Washington, D.C. On Sunday, she sang the National Anthem at the NFC championship game between the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles. However, she will find time to participate in some charity ventures at the end of this month.
According to MSNBC.com, on Tuesday January 27, the American Idol season six winner will join internationally famous Japanese-American chef Roy Yamaguchi for an event called “Up Close and Personal”. Yamaguchi, founder of Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, and Sparks, will host the event at the Tampa Roy’s restaurant (4342 W. Boy Scout Blvd., across from International Plaza) in Tampa, Fla. Sparks is teaming up with Yamaguchi for this star-studded event with an enviable guest list of the hottest names in Sports, Entertainment, Politics, and Business. Tickets are $250 and $400 VIP (limited to the first 100 sold). All VIP ticket holders will have access to a private meet-and-greet with Jordin and Roy. The night will feature food, drink, music, an auction, and a meet-and-greet session. Yamaguchi is known as a great philanthropist.
Then on Wednesday, January 28, Jordin will also perform in concert at the 2nd Annual Jordin Sparks Charity Concert at Grace Family Church (5101 Van Dyke Road) in Lutz, Florida. Proceeds from both events will go to Tampa-based Sparks’ Charities, which is run by her godmother, Christa Watson. The charities include Uplift Excellence Foundation and 1voice, and the money will benefit the World Children’s Center, an Atlanta-based charity that is trying to assist homeless children.
Nevertheless, Jordin is not taking part for the first time at this kind of charity events. In 2007, she was asked by a relative who works for SOS Children’s Villages - USA in Florida, he largest orphan and abandoned children’s charity in the world, to design a denim jacket festooned with Swarovski crystals to support orphans.
