“It looks like Amy Winehouse could snatch victory from the jaws of defeat” as The Sun reports.
The famous yet troubled British singer Amy Winehouse, who has been languishing in the studios for months to finish her third album, is now getting the help of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, who doesn’t seem to be too concerned with the enormity of the task and wants to help her out again.
If you remember, it was Jay-Z who helped her out two years ago by remixing her single “Rehab”. Thanks to him, Amy launched in the States. In an interview with MTV, Amy declared back then: “I have pride in being different. And the Jay-Z remix is wicked. I’m flattered that he liked [the song] enough to do something with it.”
Well, the hip hop titan JAY-Z is keen to team up again. This is very good news as it was recently reported that her record label had rejected her “reggae-ish” demos, which they later denied. Then last week it was claimed the singer is bringing in ‘Back To Black’ producer Mark Ronson to help out on the new LP.
Jay said to UK newspaper The Sun: “Amy has a really powerful voice, it is so distinctive and beautiful. Hopefully in the future we could get together and work on some new material – I’d love to work with her again.”
The singer’s as-yet-untitled third LP is expected to be released at the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Amy has forbidden troubled Babyshambles rocker Pete Doherty - who, like Amy, has battled drug addiction - from helping to launch the singing career of her 13-year-old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield.
A source said: “Pete and Dionne get on like a house on fire but Amy is really protective of her and doesn’t think a duet with Pete is the right thing to do at the moment. The last thing she wants is for Dionne to make the same mistakes she did. Pete is upset but he understands. As soon as he has sorted himself out and Dionne’s made more of a name for herself, the duet will definitely be on the cards.”
