She’s not Jewish; she’s Mexican but had to hide it because back in the day it wasn’t cool, ala Linda Rondstandt, Steve Perry from Journey. Hats off to Carlos Santana who remained himself, but I do understand > it wasn’t cool back in the 70’s and 80’s for white suburbia teens to be listening to ‘those Mexicans’. So sad.

I agree with everything above, she’s a great person and the Bangles were such a wonderful group but… does anybody here really think that jewish is a nationality ????!!!!!………Please tell me no !… well I guess she’s maybe mexican AND jewish !…..

Jake; How come you know she is Mexican ? Both her parents doesn’t have any last name remining Mexican ascendent…I’m asking because I’m Mexican and eventough she has some physical features that could resemble latin or mexican, all of her biographies at the web site doesn’t mention any of it; also their parents names are not latino related at all ?

Um, Jake. She IS Jewish. Her parents, Joshua and Tamar Simon Hoffs are Jewish, her husband Jay Roach is Jewish. She’s about as Mexican as Woody Allen!
Also, Steve Perry, as someone else noted here, was born in California to Azorean parents of Portuguese descent.
And although Ronstadt’s family lived in Mexico, they, as their name suggests, are of German stock. Her dad was Mexican-American due to his German grandfather having married a Mexican in the South-West of what is now the USA (but which at the time was part of Mexico). Linda’s mum was an American Anglo-German from Michigan.
Not that any of this actually matters, unless you believe that one race is somehow better than another… but it is important to be accurate.

Since I was little (actually not so long time, I´m still 22 yrs old) I admire Susanna Hoff by her sooooo gorgeous face, perfect smile and touchable voice…specially watching “Manic monday” and “Walking like an egyptian”.
The worst thing in our lives it´s time, when we get old… why couldn´t we be younger forever?

Ii don’t care about her being jewish or anything else. It’s the person that is important. iIthink she is sweet and still looks wonderful. She also has a distinct singing voice which makes the Bangles and her stand out. I just love everything about Susannah. A belated Happy Birthday Susanna and may you and the Bangles Rock on.
