| Mother of slain 'gentle giant' Gary Wilborn says it's time to fix broken community (Orlando Sentinel) On Oct. 27, 2001, Gary Wilborn wrote a list of his dreams on a slip of paper and placed them in a Bible. Family, friends remember a "gentle giant" (The Oregonian) Michael Carey (left) and his sister, Maureen (right) help Michael's son, Cameron, create a Halloween costume. Michael Carey died just more than a day later. Michael Carey hadn't wanted to officiate the pool hall tournament on Halloween but gave in...
