The singer has begun recording her next album which she describes as “futuristic,” with collaborations with the forward-looking the eclectic Australian pop singer Sia, Goldfrapp and Ladytron. “Her voice has a really cool sound to it. It’s really gritty and unique,” says Aguilera about Sia. “I’m not exactly sure what we’re going to get when we go into a studio together. There’s probably magic to be had.”
“There’s no holds barred for anything,” Aguilera said to Rollingstone earlier this year. “It’s really the future and can go anywhere. It’s exciting to challenge myself in that way and explore.”
Last week the singer revealed she’d installed a home-studio at her Los Angeles mansion, so she could spend more time with husband Jordan Bratman and baby boy Max Liron, in between recording.
The singer told her fans that her long-awaited next record will feature a more electronic sound than her previous efforts. Speaking about how the new record is shaping-up so far, Christina says: “I kind of had an idea for a futuristic feel for many years now, but I also had that idea that I wanted to do a soul, blues and jazz record also. But I knew I had to do that one first.”It’s always been in the back of my mind to do a more futuristic sound. But I felt like it couldn’t been a better time or place for me personally also as a new mom.”
And despite the influx of electronic-inspired music in the charts lately, Christina Aguilera insisted she wasn’t influenced by anyone else, especially not by artists like Lady Gaga. So she added:”No, that was the funny thing too.” She told the Associated Press: “I did start to notice that music did start to take a more electronic turn. But I really don’t pay attention to what’s going on out there because I want everything I do to have a very original feel. I wanted to keep a good balance of future but still mix it with a very real and believable sound.”
