The internet forums are still debating if Annette Olzon is better than Tarja Turunen. I like the new album and Annette is different. I can’t say better or worse, just different. I hope to catch the current tour so I can see Nightwish live.

You don´t know nothing about Nightwhish? because the girl in the picture is not Anette, she is Viveke Stene (Ex Tristania).
The new album is good, Anette is a good singer but it’s imposible to compaire with Tarja.
Tarja is amazing!

Anette will NEVER be a good singer.
She’ll never be like Tarja.
Tarja’s a Goddess.
Anette is a shrieking banshee who flails on stage when she attempts to sing the old songs.

i rhonk annette os a great songer and her voice is different than other female rock band.nightwish was great when tarja’s time but it don’t depends on singer ’cause tuomas will always create amazing song making us dreaming.

It’s impossible to compare Tarja and Anette they haven’t the same voice. I aggree people who said that nightwish is the same than before thanks to Tuomas creation but Anette doesn’t make me dream like Tarja before! She haven’t the abilities of tarja to make us feel the music and understand everything since the first listening! and in live Anette is not to impressive than Tarja! I think Annette is good but so is Tarja.
They both have their own styles therefore it is impossible to compare them.

Both are very good. Tarja´s voice on the old albums was cool and Anette´s angel voice is now cool. But this is not just for both of them, but just about all Nightwish! The songs, lyrics and Tuomas!

How can even think of comparing?? Tarja is and always will be the best thing that happened to Nightwish! No one can ever replace her! To tell you the truth, I stopped listening to Nightwish when Tarja left. I can’t stand that Anette. She’ll never be as good as Tarja. TARJA 4EVER!!

This is a little silly. First, Tarja had to leave because she was beginning to hate the bad and vise versa and everyone was miserable.
Secondly, Tarja was an operatic soprano; she had a very specific style that was amazing but she couldn’t go very low and she usually had the same tone (but man was her diction incredible! I wish people who speak english had enunciation like her).
Meanwhile Anette is more of an alto. She can go high easily but you can tell her home is in the lower ranges. However, she puts twists, dips and other stylistic changes on notes that Tarja never did. Also, I LOVE Anette’s informal, sometimes teasing tone when she sings.
So, obviously these two singers are both accomplished and VERY different. Comparing them is kinda like comparing an apple and an orange. Both are fruit, both taste good, both are good for you, but other than that they’re not much alike. Please stop with all this “Anette sucks! Tarja rules!” stuff because true Nightwish fans can appreciate the differences and still enjoy Toumus’ brilliance.

Anette is good! You can’t compare Tarja and Anette. They’re completly different! Like the author said not better or worse. Just different. Anette Olzon är en fantastisk sångerska!

I already began doubting of Nightwish’s future with Once, the bass played by Marco sounded so extreme metal that the keyboards and vocals seemed secondary, and that’s what made Nightwish different to me. I think/hope it’s one of the reasons why Tarja left, as her voice didn’t match the now “extreme melodic” heavy they’re doing.
And now we got Annette … I can’t find a word to say how disappointed I am, she could sing some RnB or dance music, but not metal, her voice lacks identity, power and control. I saw live pics where she slaughtered about all the “Tarja era” songs.
Happy there are new bands like Visions of Atlantis and Amberian Dawn.

Nightwish will never be as wonderful as they used to be without Tarja now…And that is too sad because one shouldn’t depend on only one member of the band. I think that they could have chosen someone much better that Anette but it is too late now…Hopefully in an album or two time from now we will rediscover the Nightwish we all love…

I think it’s silly for people to say Annette is a bad singer just because they’re butthurt Tarja got fired. They’re both awesome, Annette might just take some getting used to since Tarja was with Nightwish for so long.

RIP nightwish, they were one of the greatest bands ever until Annette came, she has a okay voice and everything but shes not a metal singer.

I believe that Tarja, is amazing, great at the older songs. The new songs were created for anette. She cannot sing the old songs, but the new songs are nice. They either need to get a new singer. Or they need to unfortunately drop the old songs :(, however awesome they are.
