On Sunday night, November 7th, the winners of the 2010 MTVA Europe Music Awards took the Spanish stage in Madrid to receive their hardware for their chart-topping hits.
Justin Bieber was one of the highlights of the night. He won the category of Best Male, beating out hardcore names like Eminem, his mentor Usher, Enrique Iglesias and Kanye West for the prize. Unfortunately for his fans, he was not able to receive the award in person. So “Hannah Montana” star Emily Osment gave him the prize via satellite and in order to remind the audience why he won this award, they played the video for “Baby.” From distance but fancy dressed out, Bieber didn’t forget to say a few words to the crowd: “This is amazing. I don’t even know what to say. I think that all the other artists in the category are inspirations to me. I’m honored to win this. It’s a big achievement.” And indeed, it’s a big achievement since he also won the award for Best Push Artist.

However, Ke$ha dethroned Justin Bieber at Best New Act and filled with happiness, thanked her fans for helping her win this award. “Oh my god! You guys, I’m gonna pee my pants!” she said to the crowd at the Caja Magica in Madrid. “Thank you to my fans. My fans are badass. I also want to thank my mom and my family, RCA, Dr. Luke and everyone who ever believed in me, but I could not have done this without my amazing, crazy, beautiful fans. Thank you so much.” And just like Katy Perry who used the “f” word in her thanking speech when she took the stage to receive the award for Best Video, Ke$ha did the same: “I make music for you and hopefully I can inspire you guys to give the finger to the cynics and f—ing be yourself, so thank you so much.” After all, she had every right to do this since she has beaten out Jason Derülo and B.o.B.

30 Seconds To Mars were awarded at the Best Rock category. They thanked the Echelon (their worldwide fanbase) and Miley Cyrus, who presented their award. Tokio Hotel’s Bill and Tom Kaulitz, who accepted their award for Best World Stage Performance from Los Angeles but didn’t forget to thank their fans, as did Lady Gaga, who accepted her three EMAs (Best Song, Best Pop, Best Female) from her live show in Budapest.
