The internet forums are still debating if Annette Olzon is better than Tarja Turunen. I like the new album and Annette is different. I can’t say better or worse, just different. I hope to catch the current tour so I can see Nightwish live.
It is being widely reported that Quiet Riot Singer Kevin Dubrow has died. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
I was an early fan of 1983’s Metal Health and the title song. Of course their best known hot from the album was “Cum on Feel the Noize”, a remake of a Slade song. Kevin hated the song. It’s always a bit of irony when a song defines band that is always indicitive of the true nature of the band (think “Mmore Than Words” by Extreme).
Kevin was loud, cocky and a bit obnoxious, all of the traits a good front man should have. One thing for sure he had a great voice.
The Phil Spector trial has been declared a mistrial because the jury couldn’t reach a decision.
Surely if 4 out of 5 dentist can recommend Dentyne then this jury could have found this clown guilty.

I came across these pictures of Amy Lee from Evanescence. Amy Lee is of course the singer of the band. These pics were from a Japanese magazine and appeared about a year ago.

Reports have been pouring in that the rehersals for the upcoming Van Halen Tour have been going extremely well. It has been mentioned that Eddie is playing his ass off and Wolfie is doing a fine job.
I have been lucky enough to find some rehearsal footage from an earlier Van Hagar era tour. The mix was captured at the board before the effects loop so it sounds a little rough.
I heard Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” on the radio today and I was reminded what a totally kick ass song it is. I wasn’t a huge fan of Nirvana at the time since they singlehandedly destroyed metal. From there the floodgates were open to the whole Seattle “grunge” scene. Thanks to Nirvana “alternative rock” thrived and some very cool bands emerged in the 90’s.
